Lynne Ramsay’s excellent drama thriller follows the shocking psychological feud which is waged between a mother and her young son. Eva is not a natural when it comes to motherhood and Kevin, sensing this, throws scorn and worse at her attempts.
We Need to Talk About Kevin is an adaptation of Lionel Shriver’s superb novel of the same name. Casting is excellent, with Tilda Swinton as the mother, Jasper Newell as a child Kevin and Ezra Miller as a teenaged Kevin. John C Reilly plays the father but is little used.
