Richard Kelly’s highly original comedy teen drama/sci-fi horror mystery boasts one of the most bizarre yet compelling stories in cinematic history. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Donnie Darko with a great supporting cast which includes Maggie Gyllenhaal, Patrick Swayze and Drew Barrymore.
Donnie Darko is one of the most famous cult classics around. It is fascinating, very well put together, and very very cool.

I did like this film with its quirkiness and unique ending. I actually thought Drew played her role pretty well too and I don’t generally praise her performances (except ET). I didn’t remember Patrick Swazye being in the film but it was awhile ago.
great movie!
A while back a mate posted a pic of himself dressed as a rabbit on facebook. I commented saying ‘why are you wearing that stupid bunny suit? Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?’ The quote completely passed him by!
This is a classic, except if you watch the Director’s Cut. Boy, does that spoil it! The original cut leaves a lot up to the audience’s interpretation – a far better version of the film.
Totally agree.
I never saw the director’s cut I’ll have to check it out. Does it have that much more content added?
No. No extra content, as far as I remember. Or very little to go with the dubbed-over narrative that tries to explain the scientific thinking behind the movie and ruins all the mystery in the process. DON’T waste your time! The director’s cut ruins the superb original.
Oh, okay, lol, will do… or not… however you want to word it.
A great film…and Cheers!!!
I invite everyone to my blog page to discuss the meaning and insights of the film.
